Mentally healthy workplaces

Most of us would be well aware of the importance of feeling safe and supported in our workplace. Aside from job satisfaction which keeps us in our jobs and productive, employers should also know that when workplaces are able to support staff experiencing personal mental health challenges they are more likely to retain staff who will build resilience, confidence and commitment to their work and workplace.

There are of course workplace laws and OH & S policies that workplaces must adhere to which are designed to ensure staff safety and there are also various workplace wellbeing programs available for workplaces to incorporate as a regular staff support service.

Mindfulness based training for workplaces is a very effective way to build practical skills which staff can use to enhance their performance, confidence and overall job satisfaction.

I have designed my MindSpa@work program to help workplaces to create a package of activities and events they can use throughout the year to embed a mindfulness-based approach to their staff support services. 5 minute stress busters, daily reflective practice exercises, team and organisation wide wellbeing activities and events which can be held monthly, quarterly, annually.

One of the other professional development services I provide is delivering Mental Health First Aid training which I have been doing now for more than 8 years. MHFA courses are evidence based accredited programs which build knowledge, skills and confidence to support someone exprience mental health challenges. The training program works with case studies, films and engaging activities to support the learning.

I am thrilled to announce I am now offering a Workplace Wellbeing Training Package which incorporates MHFA for Workplaces course with a 2 hour MindSpa@work session.

The MHFA for Workplaces Program is a blended course where participants complete 5-7 hours of e-learning then attend a 4 hour in person session as a group. I include a 2 hour MindSpa@work session as part of the in person component of the training. This additional activity supports staff to understand the importance of regular self-care at work with easy to follow relaxation and meditation exercises.

Workplaces who complete the program can then also schedule additional MindSpa@work sessions to continue to build skills and practice.

If you would like to find out more about the MHFA for Workplaces course go to www.mhfa.com.au/our-courses/adults-supporting-adults/standard-mental-health-first-aid/ and contact me at meditationmakeover@gmail.com to discuss how your workplace can benefit from my Workplace Wellbeing Training Package.
